Kenny Florian thinks Diaz is right about GSP

No one was surprised when Nick Diaz claimed that former Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre was scared to bits to face Anderson Silva – the twp have a long history of feuds.

But what surprised many UFC fans was the manner in which former UFC fighter and current presenter Kenny Florian came out in support of the comments made by Diaz. According to Nick Diaz, he is taking on Anderson Silva, the former Middleweight kingpin simply because the Canadian Mixed Martial Artist was scared to take him on.

And Florian believes he is right. Diaz is a former Strike Force champion and he will go head to head against arguably the greatest pound for pound fighter in the history of the sport in Anderson at UFC 183 in January in his first match since a prolonged break after suffering a fractured leg in his rematch for the UFC Middleweight Championship against Chris Weidman in 2013.

He said that the fight was there for the taking for Rush and he only needed to utter a couple of words to land the match. But he was running scared and now, he has been given that fight.

According to Florian, Diaz might be right about it, but he still thinks that GSP is the greatest champion in the history of the UFC.

He said that any fighter, especially a champion, would prefer the odds to be stacked in his favor. GSP would have had to go up to 185 lbs. from 170 lbs. to make the fight happen and it wouldn’t have been the wisest decision to fight above his weight class against someone who is widely seen as the greatest fighter in the history of the sport.

Florian believes that this is what makes GSP a great champion.
