Aldo believes Ricardo Lamas deserves Featherweight title shot

Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Featherweight Championship holder Jose Aldo is still recovering from an injury from his last match inside the UFC Octagon, but he is already preparing to return to action next year and has some targets in his mind for his comeback fight.

Junior was speaking to a Mixed Martial Arts outlet in Brazil and he ran the rule over the list of contenders who are waiting for an opportunity to fight for his title. And according to the Brazilian, Ricardo Lamas is the man who deserves the next crack at the 145 lbs title strap more than anyone else.

He mentioned that although he is not the one who decides who gets to fight for the title, but if it were up to him, he would say that Ricardo Lamas should be the man given the chance to fight for the title.

Aldo mentioned to Unibet that he felt he had already earned his chance for the title. But he did admit that if Lamas was not handed a shot at the title, then the next person in a prime position for a shot at his strap would be Cub Swanson.

Ricardo Lamas has won his last four matches in the UFC and three of those wins were finishes, including one against Cub Swanson but the opinion against him is that he has not stepped inside the UFC Octagon since January. Aldo will not be returning to the Octagon before 2014, and he is expected to return to training when he is 100% fit next month and he believes the contender should not take any other match and wait for the title shot.

He stated that if he were Lamas, he would sit and wait for Aldo to get fit and then fight him for a crack at the UFC Featherweight Championship.
